Disappointment washed over him in waves after venturing out of the forest. His excursion was a mere passing fancy, and he had hoped to find some interesting sight to stir the spirit, but he was instead greeted by an endless expanse of reddish-brown rocks and sand. After slumping down in despair, he decided to see what might happen if he unleashed the full breadth of his power. At first, only a tiny sprout emerged from the sun-bleached, cracked earth. With a little more effort, a patch of grass began to spread around it. Delighted by this, he proceeded to channel his power into that very spot day after day, year after year—until finally a great tree took root.
