Floors of Aincrad

How many floors are in Echoes of Aincrad, and what's on each one. The game covers Floors 1 and 2 of Aincrad's 100-floor tower — the towns, terrain and Labyrinth boss of each, and how you clear a floor to climb.

Echoes of Aincrad covers Floors 1 and 2 of Aincrad's 100-floor castle. Rather than thin the whole tower out, the team built Floors 1 and 2 in depth — full towns, open field zones, side quests and a climactic Labyrinth boss on each — with a later expansion extending that content instead of racing upward. Here's how a floor is put together and what each of the two holds.

Floor 1 of Aincrad — Town of Beginnings
Floor 1Plains & forests

Where the death game — and your climb — begins. The Town of Beginnings is the starting hub and main crafting stop, ringed by the gentle plains and forests where every player cuts their teeth (the spring stampede of Mama Boars is a Town of Beginnings tradition). Smaller settlements like Tolbana and Horunka anchor the early quests before you reach the Floor 1 Labyrinth and its boss.

Floor 2 of Aincrad — Urbus
Floor 2Highlands, plains & deserts

A rockier, more open floor — miles of plains giving way to mountains, deserts and pockets of forest, with ancient ruins tucked into the hills. Urbus is its main town. The wildlife turns heavyweight here: the great oxen and rock-cows of the highlands are the signature Floor 2 threat before you tackle the floor's own Labyrinth raid.

How you clear a floor

Every floor ends at the Labyrinth

Each floor is a self-contained region — open field, villages and dungeons — capped by a single enormous structure, the Labyrinth. It's a towering central pillar and the only way up: fight to its summit and the floor boss waits in the raid room at the top.

Beat the floor boss to climb

Clearing a floor means defeating its floor boss, which unlocks the teleport gate up to the next floor. That's the whole engine of the death game — the front-line raid group pushes the tower higher one boss at a time. Floor 1's boss is Illfang the Kobold Lord; Floor 2 crowns its own Labyrinth raid.

Checkpoints reveal the map

A floor's map isn't handed to you. Activating checkpoints, finding shortcuts and clearing dungeons peel back the fog, so exploration is how each floor opens up — every named area and point-of-interest type is collected on the Map & Markers page.

The 100-floor castle

In the fiction of Sword Art Online, Aincrad is a steel castle a hundred floors tall, floating in the sky. Every floor is its own world — towns, fields and dungeons — stacked one atop the next, and the only escape is to fight to the 100th floor and clear its final boss. Echoes recreates the base of that tower; the summit stays the distant goal the story's front-liners climb toward.

More floors later?

A paid expansion — bundled with the Deluxe, Ultimate and Aincrad editions, and sold on its own — is planned before the end of 2026. It's built for players who've finished the main story: a new side chapter, extra companions and tougher endgame encounters set across the existing two floors, rather than a confirmed new floor.

Ready to climb? The Boss Guide has phase-by-phase strategy for Illfang and the field bosses, and Map & Markers lays out every named area on both floors.
