Weapon Types

006

All six weapon types in Echoes of Aincrad — One-Handed Sword, Two-Handed Sword, Rapier, Dagger, Mace and Axe — with playstyle, strengths and which to pick first.

One-Handed Sword

All-rounder

The starter and the safest pick — balanced reach, speed and damage, with room for a shield-like guard playstyle. Best for learning parry timing.

Two-Handed Sword

Heavy hitter

Slow but enormous damage and reach. Built around charged heavy attacks; punishes a parried or staggered boss harder than anything else.

Rapier

Fast / precise

Quick thrusts and the best mobility. Lower per-hit damage but excels at chipping fast enemies (Dire Strife Wolf) and weaving between attacks. A nod to Asuna's style.

Dagger

Speed / crits

The fastest attacks in the game with short reach, rewarding aggressive in-and-out play and back-strikes against slow foes like the Sentry Golem.

Mace

Stagger / poise

Blunt, heavy and great at breaking enemy guard and building stagger. Slower than a sword but forgiving thanks to its stopping power.

Axe

Raw damage

High damage with wide, committal swings. Strong against larger bosses (Glenspore Grizzly) when you can land hits in their recovery windows.
