There was once a ferocious, yet intelligent, beast. Its rage and intellect left the villagers at a total loss, until an old wise man challenged the beast to a battle of wits, hoping to keep it from destroying their village. The battle continued for a month, with neither side rising victorious. In the end, the wise man passed away. The villagers were convinced their village would be lost, until they witnessed the beast sitting quietly beside the wise man's corpse—the place where it would become a Guardian.
